There is trips, and there is 'Good' trips. Sadly it seems to be more a trend to go on trips that are not necessarily good. Trips where the destination is the purpose. I can honestly admit most of my own trips are driven by goals. Accomplishments don't come alone without the experience of the way there, but that 'peak' moment seems to take some of the essence out of the journey, and maybe make the experience less?
When I then head out with my girl, whom isn't really as much of a mountain freak as me, I seek to find a good experience, something that don’t put pressure on some schedule. These trips are the ones I enjoy the most, because contrary to my usual stuff, they give time to contemplate and just 'be' out there with no other goal. |
I must say that the art of being comfortable on a 5 day trip in a region like Trollheimen can be demanding, especially since the weather eventually turned wet again. Foggy, rainy, marshy and since we are using some old and worn equipment, its not too easy staying dry and warm. Regardless, we managed to keep it very pleasant and warm most of the time.
We caught some fish, and found some berries and mushrooms, so we got a little extra, which was good, since we had underestimated the snack side of the pack. But that is mainly cause we didn’t want to carry to much stuff around, and rather keep it simple. Also I had time to boulder a bit ! stiff boots on wet slab, that feeling... |
